Gunnar Henderson, the therapy dog named after the Orioles' shortstop, has been making a positive impact in Harford County, Maryland.
Rescued by Michelle Brusio, a Clinical Manager at UM Upper Chesapeake Health, Gunnar volunteers with the nonprofit Paws For People. Together, they participate in various activities like Paws for Reading, visiting schools, nursing homes, and hosting de-stress events. These sessions help reduce stress, blood pressure, and loneliness, especially for children.
Gunnar's name, shared with the Baltimore Orioles' player, sparks conversations, particularly during baseball season, helping break the ice and connect with people. Therapy visits with Gunnar and other therapy dogs are available through Paws For People.
