Police and the Animal Care Centers of NYC are searching for the owner of a puppy found swimming alone in the East River near the South Street Seaport on Sunday morning.
The NYPD Harbor Unit rescued the puppy, who was taken to the East Harlem Animal Care Center. Named Hudson, the small mixed-breed dog, estimated to be 1-2 years old, appears healthy and well-cared for but lacks a microchip.
The center will hold her for three days before making her available for adoption if no one claims her. Anyone with information is urged to contact 1-800-577-TIPS.
