A two-year-old Rottweiler was found abandoned in a dumpster in Houston's Fourth Ward by residents of Allen Parkway Village.

The dog, which appeared to have been placed there deliberately, was discovered late at night by animal rescue volunteers from Fur A Pawsitive Future. After initially struggling to coax the dog out, the team successfully used a crate to lift the dog to safety.

The dog was then transferred to BARC for a 48-hour stray hold before being made available for adoption. The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident.
