In a heartbreaking case of animal cruelty, a Chihuahua named Atreyu was rescued after being thrown into a dumpster in a Las Vegas neighborhood by an unidentified man.

The incident, caught on a home surveillance camera, shows the man dangling the dog by his legs before tossing him into the dumpster and closing the lid. Atreyu remained there for over 24 hours until he was found and taken in by the Vegas Pet Rescue Project.

Despite the traumatic experience, Atreyu was found uninjured but shaken. He's about 3 years old and is now under the care of Horizon Bridge Animal Hospital. The identities of both the man and the dog’s owners remain unknown.

The case has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger animal protection laws, especially as Nevada's proposed Reba’s Law gains traction. Authorities are working to identify the man responsible, with Clark County Animal Protection Services leading the investigation.
