K9 Knox Killed in Line of Duty During Pursuit in Virginia

K9 Knox, a 3-year-old German Shepherd with the Roanoke Police Department in Virginia, was tragically killed on April 18 during a vehicle pursuit.

While chasing a fleeing suspect, Knox was accidentally struck by a patrol car driven by an officer who wasn't his handler. He later died at an emergency vet clinic.

The suspect, Timothy Darnell Bryant, is still wanted on multiple charges. Knox had served with the department since May 2023. An internal review is ongoing, and the department is collecting dog item donations for local shelters in Knox’s honor.
