Animal Shelter

The City of Boston Animal Control and Adoption Center oversees the enforcement of animal-related laws and ordinances, while also operating a city-run animal shelter staffed by a full-time veterinarian.

The division offers a variety of public services, including pet adoptions, low-cost rabies clinics, a year-round pet food pantry, and dog licensing. It also conducts boarding facility inspections and investigates reports of animal cruelty and neglect, playing a key role in both public safety and animal welfare throughout Boston.
