A goldendoodle named Mia was found after being missing for 18 days in Glacial Park Conservation Area in Illinois.
Mia disappeared on Feb. 12 during a walk when her leash became tangled with another dog’s leash and she ran into the woods. Her owners then organized a search with friends and volunteers. A drone equipped with a thermal camera helped spot the dog, while volunteers set up food stations and cameras to track her movements.
Because Mia avoided people while in survival mode, rescuers eventually placed a humane trap in the park. On March 1, she was safely captured and reunited with her owners. Despite nearly three weeks in the wilderness, Mia was found in good condition with only minor weight loss and a small injury.
