Demand is rising for courtroom support dogs trained to help trauma survivors navigate legal proceedings.
Courtroom Critters, founded by Stephani Loffredo, trains therapy and certified courtroom dogs to assist crime victims, veterans, and individuals with severe anxiety. The group currently has 50 therapy dogs and 10 courtroom-certified canines.
Judges, including Nadia Krall of the Eighth Judicial District Court, say the dogs help reduce stress and improve comfort during hearings. While Nevada lacks formal laws allowing such dogs in court, advocates are pushing for changes as the privately funded nonprofit expands and recruits more volunteers.
