A large-scale animal rescue operation is underway in Missouri after authorities uncovered dozens of animals in poor condition at a breeder’s property.
Authorities and volunteers in Newton County seized 75 dogs, including 36 Great Dane puppies and one Doodle, along with nine exotic animals, during an ongoing criminal investigation. Daisy’s Dane Sanctuary said nearly all of the rescued dogs required medical treatment, with many suffering from neglect, malnutrition and injuries.
The animals are being cared for at the sanctuary and the Pleasant Hill Animal Shelter while the investigation continues. Officials say no animals are currently available for adoption. The sanctuary says it is urgently seeking supplies and support, including blankets, towels, cleaning help and additional volunteers as around-the-clock care efforts continue.
