The Fort Worth Fire Department in Texas has taken in a dog found abandoned outside one of its stations and decided to give him a permanent home.
Firefighters discovered the dog, later named Jake, chained outside with a note nearby and brought him inside for care, believing he may have been left by a homeless veteran who could no longer care for him.
After sharing the story publicly, the department received no adoption offers for the dog. Despite efforts to find him a permanent home, the crew ultimately chose to keep Jake at the firehouse rather than send him to a shelter. Jake now lives with the firefighters, who provide him with food, care, and a stable environment as part of their station family. The department says while this is not a typical practice, they felt moved by the situation and stepped in to ensure he would be safe and cared for.
