
The York County Sheriff’s Office in Pennsylvania has officially welcomed K9 Mason, a new bloodhound puppy trained for search and rescue operations, as longtime K-9 Prince retires from service.
Mason will assist the department’s CARE Team in searches for missing children, elderly residents, and people with special needs.
Local Masonic lodges and community supporters raised more than $75,000 to fund the puppy, training, vehicle, and equipment for the program.County officials praised the community’s support, calling search-and-rescue dogs an essential part of protecting residents across York County. During the announcement, Deputy Lt. David Godfrey was also recognized for his leadership in developing the department’s K-9 program following last year’s ambush shooting in which he was injured.
