A woman has died after being mauled by two dogs owned by a neighbor in an early-morning attack on Blue Bonnet Drive in Brevard County, Florida, according to authorities.

The victim, Jodi Cowan, was walking with her small dog when the dogs attacked, according to her partner, who said he found her being dragged across the road and tried to intervene before calling 911. She was airlifted to a hospital but later died from her injuries.

Her partner and neighbors said the dogs had shown prior aggression and had been reported before the fatal incident. Animal control has since taken custody of the dogs while investigators continue the case.
