Benny, an 8-year-old golden retriever who spent six years keeping guests and cast members safe at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, has officially retired from his role as a security dog.
Disney Parks announced Benny’s retirement on July 8, celebrating the beloved K-9’s years of service and sharing highlights from his time at the park. Known by several nicknames, including “Benny and the Jet” and “Benito,” Benny helped monitor security areas at the park entrance alongside his handler, Kevin.
During his retirement celebration, Benny enjoyed special treats, including his first hot dog after leaving his strict work diet, along with tennis balls and plenty of affection from his coworkers. He will now spend his retirement at home with Kevin, who will continue caring for his longtime partner.
