Dr. Arturo Frederico and Registered Nurse Rachel Hankinson are bringing their two therapy dogs, Benny and Charlie, to Hartford Hospital in Connecticut to provide comfort and support to patients, families, and staff.

The Bernese Mountain Dog and Golden Retriever have quickly become popular visitors throughout the hospital. Frederico and Hankinson said the dogs help reduce stress and bring moments of happiness, especially for patients facing difficult medical situations. Their therapy work highlights the positive impact animals can have on emotional well-being.

Benny and Charlie now spend their volunteer time greeting people in the hospital and spreading joy through simple interactions. The couple believes their dogs’ ability to connect with others makes them valuable members of the healthcare community.
