A puppy rescued from a Tennessee roadside has found a forever home in Maine after a cross-country journey. The dog, now named Tennessee Jed, was saved after a call for help.

The 6- to 7-week-old puppy was found near his deceased mother and taken in by rescuers. Danielle Davis and her wife, Kelly Kern, drove from South Berwick, Maine, to the Knoxville area to rescue him. After traveling through nine states, the couple brought Tennessee Jed back home, where they initially planned to help him find an adoptive family.

However, the puppy quickly became part of their family. Tennessee Jed is now settling into his new home, getting along with other dogs and children while enjoying a second chance at life. Davis said she hopes to continue helping more animals in need in the future.
