The North American Diving Dogs competition has returned to the Longview Fairgrounds in Texas, bringing together dogs and handlers for a weekend of dock diving.

The free event is being held at the Harvest Pavilion alongside the Longview Kennel Club AKC Dog Show. Dock operator Travis Swartz said the sport is all about the bond between dogs and their owners. A former electrician, Swartz said he changed careers because of his passion for dock diving and the positive atmosphere the events create.

Competitors say the sport strengthens their relationship with their dogs while providing a fun experience for both pets and owners. The event is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to attend.
