A cat at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue is playing an unexpected role in helping senior dogs find forever homes. The resident feline helps identify dogs that are comfortable living with cats before they are adopted.
During the evaluation, dogs are introduced to the cat and observed for their behavior. Those that remain calm and show little interest in chasing the cat are considered good candidates for homes with feline companions.
Shelter staff say the simple assessment helps match more dogs with families that already have cats, expanding adoption opportunities and increasing the chances of successful placements
