Therapy dogs are bringing comfort and companionship to patients and staff at Beacon Kalamazoo in Michigan through a partnership with Big Furry Friends.
Among the regular visitors is Cooper, a black Labrador known for his calm and friendly nature. He visits hospital patients, offering affection and helping brighten difficult days.
The program has grown to include eight volunteer handlers and their therapy dogs. What began primarily as a patient-focused service has also become a source of encouragement for hospital employees. Organizers say the dogs help create connections and moments of joy, demonstrating how a simple visit from a furry friend can make a meaningful difference in a healthcare setting.
