A missing Tibetan Mastiff named Rosita has been reunited with her owner after 36 days on the run, following a widespread search involving volunteers and communities across New York and Vermont.
Rosita ran away after a rollover crash in mid-August that also left Dean’s two other dogs missing. While the other dogs were found that night, Rosita remained missing. With help from Alfie’s Rescue, volunteers used drones, cameras, feeding stations and social media to track her across multiple communities. She was spotted as far as Sandgate, Vermont, with volunteers estimating she traveled nearly 100 miles.
Rosita was finally spotted on Plains Road in Cambridge, New York. Volunteers used pieces of meat to lure her closer, allowing Dean to finally bring her home. Dean said she never gave up hope, while volunteers credited Rosita’s resilience and thanked the community for helping make the reunion possible.
