Eddie, a three-year-old Labrador retriever from Miami, has been named the winner of the 2026 American Humane Hero Dog Awards.

As a guide dog, Eddie helps his visually impaired handler, Luis Rodriguez, navigate daily life with greater confidence, safety, and independence.

Eddie was selected from five finalists, including Sage, a military facility dog; Rozi, a Chicago Police Department K-9; Goosey, a certified therapy dog; and Bubbles, a blind beagle who promotes kindness and bullying prevention.

The annual awards recognize extraordinary dogs whose service, courage, and companionship make a difference in people's lives, celebrating the special bond between humans and animals.
