Police are investigating after a dog was found tied to a pole and abandoned outside a Chevron gas station Tuesday morning in in Broward County, Florida.
The dog, now named Scooter, was briefly taken to Pembroke Park police before being transferred to Broward Animal Care. Officials say the young dalmatian-pointer mix was intentionally left behind.
Scooter is receiving medical care and will be prepared for adoption. Authorities stress that animal abandonment is illegal and urge struggling pet owners to seek help from local shelters. The investigation is ongoing.
