A neglected dog rescued in 2025 has become a K9 deputy with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office.
The Belgian Malinois, now named Vex, was found tied up without food, water, or shelter. The owner was convicted of animal cruelty and surrendered the dog.
After showing strong potential, Vex completed training with Deputy Barnett and now serves in law enforcement.
