A disturbing case of animal cruelty has surfaced in Pennsylvania, leading to the arrest of a man accused of mutilating his dog.
Stephen Stoltzfus, 45, from Kirkwood, Pennsylvania, was arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly amputating his injured dog's leg with scissors instead of seeking veterinary care. The dog, a 4-year-old labradoodle named Kimber, was hurt by farm equipment, and Stoltzfus is accused of performing a crude amputation himself. Kimber is now recovering at Main Line Animal Rescue in Chester County.
Officials from the Pennsylvania SPCA called the case one of the worst acts of animal cruelty they’ve seen. Stoltzfus faces up to 16 years in prison if convicted. He is charged with two felonies and a second-degree misdemeanor. Kimber, still undergoing treatment, may be available for adoption in a few weeks.
