Buddy, the beloved facility dog at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, is retiring early after being diagnosed with a neurological condition.
Since starting in 2022, Buddy worked full 40-hour weeks, not as a typical therapy dog, but as a key part of patient care—especially for children and those dealing with trauma or anxiety. His presence brought comfort and joy to both patients and hospital staff, who were also in need of support during challenging times.
As bubbles floated through the hallway during his farewell, staff expressed deep gratitude for the healing and hope Buddy brought to the hospital community.
