Freya, a one-year-old Bernadoodle, is the newest member of the Minot Police Department’s K9 team.
Donated by Bluegrass Bernadoodles, Freya serves as a certified comfort and emotional support dog, helping reduce stress and anxiety for both officers and the community. Freya attends schools, community events, and will soon support people in court.
Sergeant Caisee Sandusky, her handler, was introduced to the idea at a wellness conference and now brings Freya home daily. The department received a $7,500 grant for her care. Despite briefly going missing in April, Freya was quickly found, showcasing strong community support. She and Sandusky trained together, and Freya's presence is seen as a source of hope and renewal for officer wellness and community outreach.
