The New York State Police marked the retirement of K-9 Dunn, who served with Troop K's narcotics unit for seven years.
Throughout his career, K-9 Dunn played a key role in numerous law enforcement successes, including hundreds of seizures, apprehending fugitives, recovering over $10 million in narcotics-related currency, and confiscating illegal firearms.
A new K-9, named Vinn, will take over Dunn’s duties. Vinn is named after Trooper Vincent A. Dunn, who died in a car accident in 1932. Many NYS K-9s are named after fallen officers as part of a tribute to their legacy.
