A puppy found mutilated earlier this week in Mobile, Alabama, is recovering as authorities investigate possible animal cruelty.
The dog, now named Octavia, was discovered by a construction worker near Navco Road and South Octavia Drive with her ears cut off and a wire around her neck, according to Mobile Animal Services Director Robert Bryant. He described the abuse as “atrocious,” noting the ears appeared to have been cut without sedation or medical training.
Animal Services is pursuing leads, and Bryant said those responsible could face criminal charges. Octavia is currently being cared for by Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue as the investigation continues.
