In a touching tribute to a fallen hero, a Texas dog is helping keep a Cleveland officer’s legacy alive.

Sophie, a dock-diving Labrador from Texas, has become the official spokesdog for the Jamieson Ritter Foundation, which honors Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter, who was killed in the line of duty. Her owner, Poplaski, was deeply moved by Ritter’s death and found inspiration during a visit to the Ritter family’s home—where Sophie repeatedly returned to the memorial spot honoring him.

Since then, Sophie has competed nationally, raised thousands of dollars, and will headline a fundraiser in Texas on July 5. Her efforts have brought national attention to Officer Ritter’s legacy and the foundation established in his name.
