The Southaven Police Department in Mississippi has announced that K9 officer Dagger has fully recovered and returned to active duty.
Dagger, a Belgian Malinois, was seriously injured on November 11, 2025, after being struck by a passing vehicle while chasing a suspect who fled on foot during a traffic stop.
To celebrate his return, Dagger surprised a 5th grade class at DeSoto Elementary School, where officers demonstrated K9 operations, including simulated suspect apprehensions, to teach students about the role and importance of police dogs in law enforcement.
