An NYPD narcotics canine named Mulk has returned to duty after a near-fatal fentanyl exposure during a drug bust earlier this month.
Mulk and her handler, Det. Katherine Gill, helped investigators locate more than 40 kilograms of fentanyl in apartments across the Bronx and Manhattan. After the operation, Gill noticed the dog showing signs of opioid poisoning, including constricted pupils, loss of mobility, and unresponsiveness.
Gill administered Narcan on the spot, reviving Mulk within minutes. Authorities believe the dog may have inhaled or absorbed the drug during the search. Mulk has since recovered and resumed work.
