The Tucson Fire Department in Arizona has welcomed a new four-legged recruit, Ember Daisy, a 4-month-old Golden Retriever puppy already helping firefighters manage job-related stress.
Adopted through the Fetch Foundation, Ember Daisy is visiting fire stations across the city with her handler, Vera Wuerfel, bringing comfort and boosting morale among crews.
Though not yet a certified therapy dog, Ember has shown early promise in helping firefighters decompress after difficult calls. She is expected to begin formal therapy training in the coming months, with the goal of supporting the department’s Peer Support Team. Officials say the young pup is already making a meaningful impact as she grows into her role.
