A roughly eight-week-old puppy may soon be looking for a forever home after surviving a dangerous abandonment in Orange County, California.
Authorities say a man was captured on surveillance video throwing the young dog through the gate of Mission Viejo Animal Services in the early hours of Friday morning, leaving her outside the closed shelter in what officials described as “coyote country” near Arroyo Canyon.
Thankfully, the puppy did not head toward the canyon. Instead, she made her way to the front window of a nearby 24-hour urgent animal care facility, where staff spotted her and got her help. Named Magnolia, she was rescued and taken into care. Animal control officers are now searching for the man involved, who could face charges.
