A small dog who was dramatically rescued from a support beam above SEPTA’s El tracks in West Philadelphia has now found a happy ending.
The Shih Tzu mix, later named Dottie, was spotted running along the elevated tracks near 63rd and Market Streets before becoming stranded on a beam. The incident prompted a coordinated rescue involving ACCT Philly, SEPTA Police, and SEPTA maintenance crews, who used a cherry picker to safely reach and retrieve her.
After being brought down safely, Dottie was placed in the care of ACCT Philly for evaluation. She was later transferred to rescue partners for adoption. According to Street Tails Animal Rescue and follow-up reporting, Dottie has since been adopted and has officially found her “forever home,” bringing a positive close to the widely shared rescue story.
