A Cincinnati woman is preparing to embark on a 6,000-mile “Great Loop” boating journey, with her dog, Kali, by her side every step of the way.
The route will take them through more than 15 U.S. states and parts of Canada, traveling via rivers, lakes, and coastal waterways, starting in Norfolk, Virginia and looping through the Great Lakes, Mississippi River, and Gulf Coast.
While the journey is expected to be long and demanding, much of it will be shared only between the woman and her canine companion, highlighting a close bond built around life on the water and shared adventure. Together, they will navigate one of North America’s most extensive inland water routes, relying on each other throughout the voyage.
