The Madison Police Department in Wisconsin has introduced its first-ever therapy dog, a Golden Retriever named Frost, to support officer wellness and mental health.
Frost was trained through Wisconsin Academy for Graduate Service Dogs and supported by Capital K9s, a volunteer group that assists the department’s K9 programs. He will work alongside peer support officer Brian Vandervest, helping officers manage stress and respond to critical incidents.
Officials expect Frost and Officer Vandervest to complete their joint training and begin active duty later this summer.
