A Tennessee woman is hospitalized with severe injuries after she was attacked by five dogs inside an East Nashville home, according to Metro Nashville police.
Officers were called to the residence after neighbors reported hearing screams for help. When they arrived, they forced entry and found the woman being attacked by multiple pit bull-type dogs inside the home.
Police say officers shot and killed all five dogs at the scene in order to stop the attack and protect the victim. A sixth dog found in a separate room was not harmed and was taken into custody by animal control. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Authorities say the investigation into what led to the attack is ongoing.
