Firefighters in Paragould, Arkansas, rescued a stray puppy that had become trapped in a storm drain near a fire station on Monday.
According to the fire department, the Engine 2 crew responded after learning the puppy was stuck inside the drain. Firefighters removed a heavy iron grate, and one crew member entered the drain to prevent the animal from moving deeper into the system. Two other firefighters then used a hot dog to gently lure the soaked puppy toward them.
Once the puppy was within reach, firefighters wrapped it in a towel and safely pulled it from the drain. The puppy, which was not wearing a collar, was later transported to animal control for care and identification. No injuries were reported during the rescue.
