Rookie, the longtime bat dog of the Trenton Thunder, has retired after more than a decade entertaining fans and retrieving bats at Minor League Baseball games.
Since debuting in 2014, Rookie became a fan favorite, making appearances at ballparks across the Northeast, including Yankee Stadium, while also gaining national attention through ESPN and other media outlets.
Though retiring from on-field duties, Rookie will continue attending Thunder home games as a goodwill ambassador. The team plans to honor him with a pregame retirement ceremony.
