A tiny rescue dog has been found safe after spending two weeks alone in the Southern California wilderness.

The 9-pound dog, named Burt, disappeared shortly after being placed with a foster family when he slipped out of his leash. Volunteers searched for him across a 10-mile area, where he survived encounters with traffic, coyotes, and even a mountain lion.

Burt was eventually rescued thanks to the persistence of volunteers, local residents, and search teams. His remarkable survival and safe return have been celebrated as a heartwarming ending to a challenging two-week search.
