The Maine Turnpike Authority and the Animal Welfare Society marked National Dog Day with a Pup Cup Party at the Kennebunk service plaza on August 26, 2026.

Dogs cooled off with water and a kiddie pool, played in a treat-filled ball pit, and enjoyed pup cups topped with bacon- or peanut-butter-flavored whipped cream. The event brought together local pet owners and travelers for a fun break.
