Park City police have released video showing K-9 Bruno jumping from a freeway overpass while assisting an officer in investigating a suspicious object in Silver Summit, Utah, on Sept. 15. The incident left the police dog seriously injured.
Bruno suffered two broken legs and a fractured jaw after falling onto the freeway below. Officer Wayne Henderson immediately rushed to help and called for emergency assistance. Bruno was flown to a veterinary hospital in Salt Lake City and released three days later.
An investigation found that Henderson followed standard K-9 procedures during the incident. The suspicious object was later identified as a car battery that had fallen from a vehicle. Bruno is recovering at home, but it remains unclear whether he will return to police duty.
