Fifty, a Canine Companions service dog, graduated on October 9 and was partnered with Henry Pabon, a 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran from the Dayton area.
Volunteer puppy raisers Jim and Kathleen Turner helped Fifty develop essential skills before he began advanced training at Canine Companions’ North Central Training Center in New Albany, Ohio.
Fifty received specialized training to help Henry manage symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including interrupting nightmares and creating space in crowded environments. These skills are designed to help Henry navigate daily life with greater confidence and independence. The graduation reunited Fifty with the Turners for the first time in nearly five months. During the ceremony, they passed Fifty’s leash to Henry, celebrating the beginning of a partnership that would change both their lives.
