Atlanta Police K-9 Stano, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, has been found safe after slipping away from his handler’s home in Henry County, Georgia, late Monday night.

Police said Stano may have chased deer before ending up in a neighbor’s swimming pool. The neighbor, Kathy Emory, helped the K-9 out of the pool and kept an eye on him until officers arrived.

Officers had searched the area using ground teams and a helicopter before locating Stano. Police said he came willingly to officers and was ready to return home.

Stano is now resting and undergoing a precautionary veterinary checkup.
