A bear’s unexpected backyard visit in an Arvada, Colorado, neighborhood drew attention after the animal was spotted relaxing just feet away from a resident’s dog.
Lucas Eads of Arvada told KDVR that he saw a large bear lying on a neighbor’s backyard patio Monday evening while the dog, Sully, barked at the animal. A photo captured the unusual encounter between the two animals.
According to Eads, the bear remained calm and eventually walked away down the sidewalk. He said the bear has been seen in the neighborhood several times over the past few years. Sully was unharmed and appeared to be protecting his territory during the encounter.
