Kentucky Schools Welcome New Drug-Detection K-9 Tompe

Owensboro,
KY -

Daviess County Public Schools in Kentucky has welcomed K-9 Tompe, a German wire-haired pointer, to its police department to assist with drug detection in schools.

Tompe recently completed several weeks of training with Chief Officer Gary Mattingly in Houston, Texas, where the pair developed their working partnership. Officials say the dog will help detect illegal substances and support a safer school environment for students and staff.

Mattingly said the training helped build a strong bond with Tompe, who will continue daily training and patrol work in the district.
