The Kirtland Police Department in Ohio has welcomed its newest member, K9 Beacon of Hope, who was sworn in Wednesday evening.
Beacon is a multipurpose K-9 trained to provide crisis and comfort support as well as detect electronic devices that may contain critical evidence. Police said her specialized training makes her one of only five K-9s in Ohio serving in this capacity.
Beacon will work with Detective Jake Scott, who specializes in child sexual abuse material, cybercrime and human trafficking. Scott and Beacon completed specialized training together at the National Computer Forensics Institute in Alabama. Kirtland police said they are proud to have Beacon join their team and community.
