A Pueblo woman and her search dog, Quasar, are helping reunite pets with their owners after the Aspen Acres Fire forced evacuations in southern Colorado.
Quasar is an award-winning search dog who has earned championship titles in canine competitions. After recovering from a rare illness, he now uses his powerful sense of smell to locate displaced pets. His owner, Dawna Andrews, said the pair are also training other dogs and handlers to help with future searches.
Andrews said the service is available to anyone affected by the fire and encouraged pet owners not to lose hope. Volunteers continue searching for missing animals as wildfire recovery efforts move forward.
