Mr. Pickles, a six-year-old cocker spaniel rescued from a severe neglect case in Chatham County, North Carolina, reunited with the veterinary team that helped save his life.
The dog was found in May during a wellness check in extremely poor condition, along with two other neglected dogs. Veterinarians treated Mr. Pickles for a serious ear infection, removed a large ear tumor, and shaved away 12 pounds of severely matted fur that required extensive medical care. After treatment and rehabilitation, he has made significant progress.
Officials said Mr. Pickles was initially afraid of people but is now showing signs of trust and comfort. Since no relatives of his former owner were able to take custody, rescuers hope he will eventually be ready for adoption into a loving home.
