A Wisconsin family has adopted Bailey, a 6-year-old beagle rescued from Ridglan Farms, despite learning she has cancer.
Jeanne and Lyle Truax of Mukwonago initially planned to foster Bailey after she was rescued. After meeting her and learning about her condition, they decided to make her a permanent member of their family.
Bailey's cancer diagnosis means her future is uncertain. Her adoptive family says they are committed to giving her comfort, care, and affection for however much time she has left. Bailey is one of more than 1,500 beagles being rehomed after being removed from Ridglan Farms, a facility that bred dogs for scientific research. The large-scale rescue has led to adoption efforts across Wisconsin and beyond.
