A four week old stray puppy named Keota has found a new home after surviving a rattlesnake bite in Evans, Colorado.
Keota was found by a good Samaritan with severe swelling around her lower jaw and was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital, where she received antivenom and pain medication. She was later transferred to NOCO Humane, where caregivers continued her treatment and helped her eat while she recovered.
Keota was later diagnosed with giardia, but she continued to recover and was eventually adopted by a family. NOCO Humane reminds pet owners to seek emergency veterinary care immediately if they suspect their dog has been bitten by a rattlesnake, as swelling and tissue damage can progress quickly.
